In cities with a Chinatown, weekend mornings bring dim sum carts or order sheets, and lines form early at the most popular spots in Streamwood; walk-ins are standard and reservations are uncommon outside large banquet restaurants. Regional labels matter: Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, Shanghainese and Taiwanese kitchens cook very differently, so a restaurant's stated region is a better guide to the food than the word "Chinese" alone. Some smaller restaurants in Illinois are BYOB with no corkage fee; call ahead to confirm. A tip of 15-20% is customary for table service but not expected at counter-order takeout. Spice level, MSG and allergen questions are normal to ask before ordering, and most kitchens are happy to leave an ingredient out or tone down the heat if you mention it when ordering rather than after the food arrives.

Someone looked elderly and very out of it taking up one of the two tables available for the last hour, with no food. Woman up front was pretty rude. Explained I only wanted to dine in with a ceramic or other bowl no plastic, she said ok. I got plastic. Soup was less than mid. Wonβt be back.

I placed the order at this restaurant, and because I wanted a healthier version they told me they could not do my order. What's I'm not sure if they remember they've done it before. I only asked China Cook receptionist to give me lightly soy sauce and lightly oil and they didn't want to do it for me. It's not like that have never done it before. I was like okay then that's fine there's another restaurant right around the corner in Lake Street. So I went over to New Hong Kong restaurant and they did exactly what I want them to do. Also you can dine in. So by China Cook not trying to satisfy the customer they lost a customer and New Hong Kong gained a customer.

Before you read my tiny short novel here, I will preface that this review is just for a soup :) My husband and I have been on a hot and sour soup kick lately--I'm talking three weeks straight of craving it. It started with me, but now he's fully on board, and we're officially on the hunt for the βbest hot and sour soup" in the suburbs. I might be a bit of an Asian soup snob, but when I go to an Asian restaurant, I can judge a lot about the authenticity of the cuisine based on their soups. Soups can be one of the simplest dishes to make, but they're also easy to overlook. To me, if a place puts care into their soups, they'll likely put that same care into their entrΓ©es. With Asian soups especially, the tiniest tweaks make a big difference in flavor. If you love Tom Yum or pho, you know exactly what I mean--it's all about the flavor profile. And the same goes for a good old hot and sour soup... and oh my--I think I found the one tonight. I could have easily finished the entire quart in one sitting (I showed some restraint... barely). My husband gave it a thumbs up, and my oldest loved the kick and went back for seconds. Safe to say--we'll be back for more on our next takeout nigh

This place has some of the best Chinese food I have found near Hanover park/streamwood/Bartlett. Mongolian Beef is more traditional (spicy and not sweet, packed with beef, white and green onions and includes the crunchy white noodles). The fried rice with shrimp came with good size shrimp. The crab Rangoon is also packed with filling and you can tell they change their oil frequently. We also enjoyed their beef lo mein and sesame chicken. Their food is not salty, but if you like that add a little salt yourself to bring out a tad more flavor. Donβt plan on dining in, itβs not the greatest atmosphere. It is clean but clearly meant for carry out first.

I ordered the orange tofu for myself and my boyfriend ordered the Orange Chicken lunch special which came with fried rice (or steamed rice) and a pop can. Both items were listed as spicy on the menu but neither were spicy. I saw some flecks of what looked like crushed pepper but I didn't taste the spice. My boyfriend said his food was not good. The chicken was rubbery and it tasted bland overall.
